Vietnam was on my list for solo travelling in SEA. I heard a lot about Vietnam, culture, food and low prices. I was very curious about Vietnam. I had several purposes for Vietnam trip: to have teeth treatment, traveladn explore culture. During November 2025 Vietnam had historically severe floods, so I couldnt travel to Da Nang, Hoi An as I was planning. I stayed in Nha trang for two months, so here article dedicated to this beautiful city.

I cannot say that Nha Trang is one of high vibrational places I've been, but still vibe is chiil and neutral. Recommend to stay for a long time, if you really want to experience life as a city local in Vietnam. I really enjoyed my market shopping, sitting in local coffee shops and obersving life and walking on the beach.

Vietnam, once was colonized by France, so from this historical event they kep bread and coffee culutre. Coffee places are everywhere. Local people are really life strong coffee, so maybe avoid to drink americano at the beginning. Nha Trang is full of cute coffeeplaces. Starting with small vendor who is selling from his house and finishinf with fancy places with instagrammable decorations. Here I list places that I liked the most!

Coffee places for chilling

GÁC 99's Café & Tea - Super local cafe experience with a cozy vibe in an old building. Located near Dam Market. The old quarter of the city looks a bit like the Soviet Union, especially Dam Market.

Quán cà phê Đường Tàu - here you can see a passing train. It's not as thrilling an experience as in Hanoi, but a calm and cozy version. I liked that they have many flowers, and the view on the second floor is very nice. Prices are also lower than in many places. I really liked their coconut coffee, so next time I'll just come back to drink it.

Than - The Greenery - they have several branches in the city. This spot is more spacious and has a minimalistic design with an authentic twist of a cave inside. Their Basque cheesecake is very delicious, and they also can make hot oat cappuccino.

Julia’s Tea Shop & Tea House - if you like tea more than coffee and natural body care, you have found your place. Julia did a great job with high-quality tea and body care products.

Chekhov cafe&food - russian place with good food and coffee. Second floor is very nice to seat and have a coffee.

Nha He Coffee Shop - very cute coffee shop with a lot of greens and with cozy design. Coconut coffee was very delicious. They also have souvenir shop on the first floor, if you need presents for your friends recommend this place.

  1. Kh'om coffee

    - hipster design, cozy place. Reminds me of hipster soviet style coffee places in Almaty. Cozy and not much people.

Cafes to work (comfortable tables and environment)

Thong Dong Local Cafe 2 - nice rooftop and matcha. Try their traditional Vietnamese cassava cake made by mum.

Cedruss Coffee 10THT - spacious, bright, many tables. Could be noisy during busy times and coffee is average, but many tables.

29.Kafe - super local hidden spot. Cozy atmosphere, like an apartment, a bit dark but quite.

Yen coffee - they have places to seat with AC and also outdoor area.

P2 Cafe - spacious, well-lit, and featuring a minimalist design. Coffee in packages is also available for purchase here.

Vietnamese food based on my Nha Trang friend's recommendations.

Pho Hanh Phuc - best Pho place. Recommend to try Pho in a marble bowl, it's nice experience. Don’t forget to use sauces as true Vietnamese. Blend fish sauce with spicy sauce and put your meat in it.

Chuon Chuon Kim Restaurant - there are many Vietnamese restaurants with good reviews on the map, but I didn't like most of them. Most of the places are huge and noisy. I recommend this place, which is cute, cozy, and has good food.

Quán Bún Bò Huế 100 - this is very old por pho place, opened like more than 10 years ago. Clean, fresh and only locals.

Other restaurants I enjoyed for their food

Armenia Nha Trang - do you like Georgian food or do you want to try? So this place is for you. I loved their khinkali and eggplant rolls.

Pizza 4P's Sheraton - such a fresh and delicious pizza. You need to book in advance at busy times, otherwise they will not have seats. You can book on their website.

Sam Lor Thai Restaurant Nha Trang - for Thai food lovers, this place is the best with food, service and prices. Quite busy during lunch and dinner, so come earlier.

SPA and Massage

I was in different places for massage, but to be honest, Orchid SPA was the best experience with quality of massage, friendliness and prices. I was keep coming there to have massage, especially with Phun, but girls are are very good too. I tried vietnamese, Swedish, head and face massage. I recommend really to have Thai massage with Phun, it was nice experience (be aware that it's a lot of stretching and no oil sued). You can book online you massage, otherwise will be no spots. I want to acknowledge the owner, i was happy to know her. Lynh is welcoming and kind person. She runs this business for 12 years and she has 4 cute puddles. While you wait you can cuddle with them.

Sightseeing

The Old Nha Trang Traditional Craft Village Làng nghề Nha Trang Xưa - this is actually restaurant, but they have many traditional experiences inside. I really liked this place. They have different kind of workshops, you can try to use traditional tools, have vietnamese clothes and see traditional village houses. This place is beautifully covered with lotus flowers and its very nice to seat surrounded by flowers. Entrance fee is 80.000 VND, but if you will inside and have food exceeding 500.000 VND they will subtract this amount from the total sum. Food was very delicious and some staff even spoke decent english.  Recommend to visit this place with your friends.

THAP BA MUD BATH - there are controversial reviews for this place. However i really liked it. It was calm and peaceful during my visit. Mud bath felt nice. I took a package mud bath + herbal bath. Package included attending pools and spending time inside. They dont have good food inside, so recommend to go somewhere else for food.

Fishing port Vinh Truong Cảng cá Vĩnh Trường - super authentic experience of fish market. Recommend to go there around 6 am to see all the chaos and fresh fish. I didnt buy anything just came to take pictures, totally worth it.

Studio & Gallery Long Thanh Art - Long Thanh is famous film photographer, his works is about lifestyle and vanishing Vietnamede culture. If you like photography or want to see deep work of an artists recommend to visit. Also, Long Thanh is always there and you can talk with him.

Po Nagar Temple - happy to see at least one Buddhist-Hindu ancient temple in the town. Architecture is stunning, entrance is cheap, and mornings are not that busy. They also have Vietnamese traditional dance performance there on the back entrance area, so don't miss it.

Alexander Yersin museum - French doctor who moved to Nha Trang and spent most of his life here. His museum is not big and has no AC inside. It was nice to see that people who were colonizing the land actually also did something nourishing and helped local communities. In his museum, you can see his furniture, works, books, and works. I really liked postcards with his photos from indigenous tribes of Vietnam. Postcards are so cheap, I recommend buying and sending them to your family members from the post office, which is also very cheap. I think your family and friends will be happy to receive a postcard.

Groceries

If you are staying long term, I recommend buying groceries at the market. It's not as clean as shopping malls, but it's more authentic and fresh. Personally, I liked Xom Moi Market more than Dam Market. In my point of view, Dam Market is more for tourists, and sometimes sellers can quote you higher prices if they see that you are a foreigner. But still, Dam Market is good for buying souvenirs. At Xom Moi Market, you can buy meat, vegetables, fruits, cutlery, luggage, etc. I also liked to buy groceries in Moonmilk or Lotte mart, because of convinence.

Dental treatment

Nha Khoa Việt Hàn Nha Trang - If you want to do teeth treatment, I recommend this dentistry. It's not a paid promotion, just the place where I did my treatment. I had six crowns, several fillings, and night teeth protection. It cost approximately 1300$ for everything. I think it's not that expensive considering the quality and professionalism.

Camera shop

I also bought a camera and a drone on this trip, and I recommend this shop if you are looking for cameras with good pricing.

Canon Store_Số 18C_Cổ Loa_Phước Tân_TP. Nha Trang -

Visa

If you are planning to travel in Vietnam, I recommend applying for a three-month visa in advance. I think one month is not enough to explore the whole country. You can still apply for one month and then do a visa run to Thailand or Cambodia, but it will be more expensive. A visa for three months is $25.

My two months in Nha Trang were never part of the original plan, but they became the essential foundation for my recovery. Each cup of strong Vietnamese coffee, each comforting bowl of soup, and every walk along the beach served as a small step out of my 'Inner Winter.' This city—resilient, calm, and utterly practical—gave me exactly what I needed: a place to pause, rebuild, and re-sensitize myself to the simple joy of everyday life.

As I prepare to leave Nha Trang and finally move on to the next chapter of my East Asian adventure, I carry the tranquility I found here with me. If you find yourself needing a place to slow down, anchor yourself, and live like a local in Vietnam, I hope these spots on my guide provide you with the same warmth and comfort they gave me.

You can read my reflections and thoughts that appeared in this city. In 1890, Alexander Yersin whose museum I mention to visit, came for the first time to Nha Trang and fell in love. He dedicated his life, arts, and creativity to this city and its people. I kind of could understand his feelings. Even though the city seems to lack indigenous culture, especially in the tourism sphere, they definitely keep their roots in the atmosphere.

Where to next? Now that my body and spirit are restored, I'm heading further north. Be sure to follow along for my next destination and the continuation of my journey!
